Baking Day!

So, being poor out of my mind…I’m making cookies for everyone in the Cincinnati area who gets something from us (landlord, neighbors, people at both our jobs, etc.). Cookies on the list include:

*Peppermint and regular tree bark

*Merry Berry (white chocolate chip and cranberry)

*Gingerdoodles (a take on gingerbread cookies)

*Sugar Trees (sugar cookies shaped like trees—real inventive, I know)

*Christmas Kisses (Hersey kiss shaped fluffs dipped in chocolate)

*Chocolate lattices (Chocolate chip cookies with a spicy backboard and lattice icing)

2009 Year End Survey

1. What did you do in 2009 that you’d never done before?

Well, this was a year of first: move out of NYC in a permanent sense, move in with someone I’m dating (and now engaged to), get a cat with someone else, got my first ‘real’ full-time job, etc.

2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I had two New Year’s Resolutions: move out of NYC and loose weight. The first one I did but, unfortunately, between medication and just a new environment, I actually gained weight.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Nope, though I know a few girls from college who are pregnant now.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

Mittens, the neighbor’s cat that we took in after they abandoned them.

5. What countries did you visit?

Still no. I’ve visited three states this year, however. Does that count? It’ll be a few more when I drive home two weeks from now.

6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?

Economic security and more life direction.

7. What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

There are a good deal of them: the flight to Cincinnati for good where I was super sick, the best zoo day ever, Innerpartysystem at Mercury Lounge (can’t tell you how much I miss this band), Michael stuff, etc.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

I *did* finally get a full time job. Throughout the year, also, I still stayed a freelance writer. I’ve been with the one company I write for now for a year. That’s the longest I’ve ever been anywhere and I still love it.

9.What was your biggest failure?

Not getting a job at FW Media.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

No! I’ve been so good this year about not being sick. I was sick when I flew into Cincinnati for good and last weekend and that’s been it!

11. What was the best thing you bought?

I suppose the cats were a purchase. They’re awesome and I love them like children. They’re my babies.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

Everyone—it was a great year! My parent’s, especially, were so great about helping me move out here and everything, though.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

No one really made me depressed this year expect myself.

14. Where did most of your money go?

Probably food. And student loans.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Going home for the holidays. I’ve been excited about this since August when I realized it was possible. A lot of different zoo trips. Getting Widget. Going home for Heather’s birthday.

17. What songs will always remind you of 2009?

The UP soundtrack, Daisy album by Brand New, anything Lady Gaga

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

i. happier or sadder? Infinitely happier; probably the happiest I have ever been.

ii. thinner or fatter? Slightly thinner.

iii. richer or poorer? Probably about the same, actually.

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?

Anything that I actually wanted to do like crochet or read or photo runs.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?

Job applying. I wish I had focused more and waited instead of applying to EVERYTHING ever.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?

I think we’re actually having a real Christmas this year and going up to my aunt’s and all of that jazz. I’m very, very excited.

22. Did you fall in love in 2009?

I fall in love with Michael multiple times a day.

23. How many one-night stands?

I have stood on the nightstand several times now.

24. What was your favorite TV program?

Michael got me into Glee, Bones, House & the Office.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?

I don’t ever hate anyone.

26. What was the best book you read?

I can’t recall the title but I read about book about abortion rights around the world and decided I can’t ever move to any other countries.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?

Hrm, interesting. I guess Amanda Blank.

28. What did you want and get?

Michael, certain music albums, kitties, a job, my DSLR, etc.

29. What did you want and not get?

New ipod, 300 or above mm automatic lens that works with Nikon D40x without me having to focus it, other lenses, etc.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?

Up! I loved that movie. I mean, I’ve seen it so many times in theaters alone. AND now we have it one DVD—so happy!

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

23 and it was the best birthday ever thanks to Michael.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

A more economically fulfilling job.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?

Lots of proper, knit pants. I only own one pair of jeans. I’ve definitely stepped it up into the professional fashion sense.

34. What kept you sane?

Michael

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Joshua Jackson, mmm.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?

The fact that retarded people think communism applies to the Obama healthcare ideals when welfare is the most communistic policy of all; also, those who think communism is bad thing based off of the the fact that they’ll just call it that.

37. Who did you miss?

Heather, my parents.

38. Who was the best new person you met?

I didn’t meet too many new people this year but I would have to say Michael’s family.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009:

The Beatles had it right, love is all you need.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

My year has been a large one—there aren’t any lyrics that really sum that up…though, “Married Life” from Up (instrumental) does a nice job.

Poor excuse for headphones. I hate you Apple Earbuds, I really really do.

I LOVE Ipod headphones—I’ve never understood all of the complaints with them.

Prediction

Kelly stays in Cincinnati. That’s right, his words on ESPN make me doubt the stories. All of them. That he won’t.

4AM

The last two days I’ve been up at four AM to write articles in the hopes that I’ll have them all done by the end of this weekend so I don’t need to worry this coming week or do anything at all when in New York.

However, I’ve now discovered that 4AM is really early.
